stepping through the gate

I adore this gorgeous garden gate, which I photographed in Kelmscott earlier this year. Between the weathered stone steps and twisting ivy, the gate seems to speak of mystery and beauty. It also reminds me of how I’m feeling these days, after finishing this draft of THE LILY MAID and contemplating What’s Next: I can see where I’m going, but I haven’t stepped through to the other side just yet. So close!

Today is a full moon lunar eclipse, which can be taken as another type of gateway—eclipses are traditionally thought of as markers of change, and this one is considered especially potent. So, I’m contemplating where do I want to go? What do steps do I need to take?
